爱德蒙顿孔子学院

    加拿大爱德蒙顿孔子学院于2008年5月正式成立。前人大副委员长许嘉璐教授和汉办主任许琳女士参加了在爱德蒙顿市举行的揭牌仪式。当地的省市级领导人，教育界及社区社团的领导人也出席了揭牌仪式。当天晚上，还举行了盛大的文艺晚会。近千人观看了由中英双语学校的学生表演的精彩节目。次日晚上，爱德蒙顿孔子学院还举办三百多人的晚宴，并听取了许嘉璐教授的演讲。

    Confucius Institute in Edmonton (CIE) was officially opened in May, 2008. The grand opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Xu Jialu, the vice chairman of The Ninth National Congress Standing Committee of People’s Republic of China, and Madam Xu Lin, the director of Hanban. The local political leaders, the Lieutenant-Governor of Alberta and the Minister of Education, along with 400 people from universities, local communities and associations attended the ceremony. In the evening, CIE held a huge gala production and more than 200 students from local Chinese bilingual schools participated in the performance. A special banquet was also held by CIE with the attendance of more than 300 people from business and education sectors. Dr. Xu Jia Lu delivered a magnificent speech to the audience.

    爱德蒙顿孔子学院挂靠于爱德蒙顿市公立教育局(Edmonton Public School Board)，是为了推广汉语教学和传播中华文化而设立的教育和文化交流的非营利性公益机构。

    Confucius Institute in Edmonton (CIE) under Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB) is able to facilitate engagement with China in ways that strengthen the understanding, opportunities and bonds between the people in Canada and the people in China.

• 面向社会各界人士，开展历史的和艺术方面的汉语教学,特别是为爱德蒙顿公立教育局3500多名学生学习汉语提供帮助和支持

• Be the platform for promoting learning of Chinese language, history and arts to the general public，especially providing support to 3500 students learning Chinese in Edmonton Public Schools.

• 培训汉语教师，进行汉语教师资格认证

• Host Chinese language teacher training sponsored by Hanban for the development of Chinese language teachers

• 促进中加两国师生交流，进一步推广汉语学习

• Become an exchange platform for students and teachers to promote Chinese language

• 提供汉语教学资源

• Make resources accessible to local Chinese language community

• 开展汉语考试 （少儿汉语考试YCT/汉语水平考试HSK/商业汉语考试

BCT）， 这些考试均由国家汉办统一出题

• Hold Chinese Proficiency Tests (YCT, HSK & BCT) sponsored by Hanban, providing students and members of the public opportunity to be credentialed in Chinese.

• 提供中国教育、文化、经济及社会等信息咨询

• Be the window for mainstream Canadians to learn about contemporary Chinese education, culture, economy and society.

• 开展当代中国语言学习及教学方面的研究

• Conduct research projects about Chinese language teaching and learning and Chinese culture.
