利比里亚大学孔子学院

    利比里亚大学孔子学院由长沙理工大学（中国•长沙）和利比里亚大学（利比里亚•蒙罗维亚）联合创办，接受国家汉办管理与资助，即将于2008年12月在利比里亚首都蒙罗维亚揭牌成立。这是利比里亚开办的第一所孔子学院，也是中非友好合作的春雨催生的又一株友谊新苗。

    学院将依托利比里亚大学和长沙理工大学两所高校的深厚文化底蕴及学术传统，以传承传播汉语及中国文化为根本任务，为当地人学习汉语和中国文化提供服务，增强当地的汉语教育和学术标准，为中利教育合作及人文交流搭建起一个互动平台，使中利两国的文化可以互相借鉴，促进中利友好关系的发展。

   学院近期主要为利比里亚大学提供基础汉语教学，属于非学历教育，教学重点是汉语基础知识及中国文化入门，目前正在面向社会开设短期培训课程，包括不同程度的中文教学、旅游及商业汉语。今后如时机成熟，长沙理工大学将通过孔子学院为利比里亚大学提供汉语专业和公共汉语的学历教学，并合作进行学术研究。

    The Confucius Institute of the University of Liberia is established jointly by Changsha University of Science and Technology (Changsha, China) and the University of Liberia (Monrovia, Liberia). It is administratively managed and financially supported by HANBAN, and will soon be launched in Monrovia, Liberia in December, 2008. It is the first Confucius Institute in Liberia, also a new bud of the friendly cooperation between China and African countries.

    Relying on the deep root of the cultural tradition of Changsha University of Science and Technology and the University of Liberia, the Confucius Institute of University of Liberia will take spreading Chinese language and culture as its basic mission. It is to provide service for the natives to study Chinese language and culture, to strengthen the academic standard of Chinese language education, and to build an interactive terrace for Sino-Liberia cooperation of education and humanities exchanges .On this basis, the two countries can learn from each other and promote the friendly relation of development between the two nations.

    The institute is mainly to provide basic Chinese language teaching for the Liberia University in the near future, which belongs to non- educational- background education. The main purpose is to help get a Chinese language foundation and Chinese culture primer. It has set up some short -term training courses to the society, including Chinese language teaching, tour and business Chinese language of different levels right now. As time is propitious, Changsha University of Science and Technology, through the Confucius Institute, will provide the educational background teaching of Chinese language profession and public Chinese language for the Liberia University and combine to carry on academic researches.
