美国瓦尔普莱索大学孔子学院

    瓦尔普莱索大学孔子学院成立于2007年7月，其中方合作院校为浙江工业大学。孔子学院将会推动印第安纳西北部地区与浙江省在文化、商业、教育、艺术和政府等多个层面的交流，学员同时会跟位于芝加哥的孔子学院在大芝加哥地区共同承办各种活动。这些活动已经在积极筹备中，有些已经开始付诸实施。这些活动包括：

 与当地学校共同为中学和小学设立汉语课程，为学校设计课程教程，培训工作人员

 与芝加哥的孔子学院共同赞助短途旅行和承办活动

 为旅行者和专业人员提供“入门”级汉语培训

 为感兴趣的家长、商务人士（在中国做生意）、当地政府官员提供中国政治文化讲座

 在瓦尔普莱索大学图书馆建立中文书刊收藏，方便校园及社区

 帮助在伯特郡和浙江省建立一对一的校际交流关系

 帮助学生准备来中国教授英文和实习

 强化与汉语、中国文化、经济、商业、政治相关的学分及非学分课程

The Confucius Institute at Valparaiso University was established in July 2007, with Zhejiang University of Technology as the Chinese partner. The Institute facilitates cultural, business, educational, arts, and government exchanges between northwestern Indiana and Zhejiang province (and the city of Hangzhou). The Institute will also partner with the Confucius Institute in Chicago to sponsor joint programs within the greater Chicago area. A number of activities are planned or already in progress. These include:

 Working with local school districts to offer Chinese classes in regional elementary, middle, and high schools and to develop a Chinese teaching curriculum and staff.

 Collaborating with the Confucius Institute in Chicago to co-sponsor trips and programs

 Offering courses on “survival” level Chinese language to professionals and travelers

 Giving workshops for the community on Chinese policies and culture for various interest groups, including parents, business professionals (e.g. doing business in China), local government officials, etc.

 Offering classes and organizing events around the Chinese traditions and arts, including calligraphy, Chinese painting, Chinese landscaping courses, film, music, cultural exhibitions, traditional Chinese medicine, guest speakers, etc.

 Helping establish school-to-school exchanges between Porter County schools and Zhejiang province schools.

 Preparing students for teaching English and English-language internships in China

 Strengthening credit and non-credit courses related to Chinese language, culture, business, economy, and politics.
