    Established in March of 2006, The Confucius Institute at The University of Iowa is a collaborative project between The University of Iowa (UI), The Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) and East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai.

    Our mission is to promote the knowledge of and appreciation for Chinese culture and language. Our focus is on Mandarin Chinese classes, teacher training, and research in Second Language Acquisition of Chinese.
